Day Three: GELATO!!

Today we took a little rest, finally.  The time change has taken a toll and Les is still waiting on important documents from his company so we can get housing, a post office box and kids registered in school.  It's the running and waiting game.  So, we took advantage of this today and rested a bit.  Landon got sick, I think an after effect of shots.  Les did go into the base for a bit and came back with a power cord so we could have both computers plugged in at a time.  It was the wrong one and as soon as Grayson plugged it in to charge his game, it blew the fuse of the whole second floor we are staying in.  How embarrassing!  Again, the dumb Americans.  Can I just say we smile a lot and I find myself wanting to bow like I was in Japan to show respect. Awkward!  We got that fixed, thanks to a call to the owners of the hotel and the nice lady at the desk.

Tonight as a family we wandered into the heart of Vicenza.  I am still pinching myself.  Can I really be in Italy?  We went down a street and it opened up to a magnificent plaza square with the most beautiful buildings, cobblestone streets, carvings, statues and interesting doors and windows.  My soul didn't know what to do with all the beauty.  I kept thinking of my brother Bart and his wife Cheryl.  They would be in HEAVEN!  The shops are so quaint and lots of shoes!!!

Which brings me to.....
                                                                           GELATO!!
We had our first taste of that Italian piece of heaven.  This is the Italian version of ice cream and guys, they have us beat!  I had a coconut one that made my eyes roll is happiness, Grayson had the chocolate one which frankly as a non chocolate lover was the best chocolate I've ever tasted, Landon had the most clear tasting lemon (to die for) and Les had a cream with bits of chocolate with it.  I wish I could send you each a taste but alas, you'll have to come here to visit instead!

  1. Oh my goodness! I love reading this!! What an amazing new adventure. I can't wait for more pictures to come up on your blog. And Italian gelato is way better than American ice cream or our version of gelato. Good luck getting settled and making Italy home!
