I am probably the last of my family and friends to discover this site, but I finally have. I am loving having a place to keep the ideas I would normally be filing in folders on the computer or cabinet just on this site. The ideas are great! The picture above is one I found that I love for a dining room. www.pinterest.com. I'll be having fun with recipes and decorating ideas. I am making a list of the things I want to collect here to bring back home. I decided after seeing the amazing old fences here that I wanted to pick one up and use it as a headboard. Some old doors, urns, dining room table and armoire and some paintings. We'll see if I can find some good deals!
Les and I decided to take the bull by the horns and get really pro-active in finding our new home. We gathered another list of homes and this weekend we plugged in the GPS and drove all over the area searching for "the one". I think we found some possibilities. I will be at the Housing Office tomorrow morning 30 min. prior to them opening to make sure I get the two we like.
1st one: If you go on Google Earth put in the address: Via Vittorio Veneto 17, Longare, VI 36023.
This place definitely has the old feel I wanted and is surrounded by vineyards, a gorgeous villa, has a terrace, 3 stories with a heated attic and heated basement. It has 4 bedrooms and 1.75 baths. We have only see the outside and pictures of some of the inside so we are excited to see if we like the interior. Right now, for me, it's number one on my list for locations, charm and space.
2nd one: If you go on Google Earth put in the address: Via Cavour 6, Quinto Vicentino, VI 36050.
This one is kinda cute, in a good little town with restaurants, market, and of course the Gelato shop (which is why Grayson has voted for this one-without even seeing it!) This one is 4 bedrooms with 1.75 baths. It has a garage, which the other one doesn't.
Hopefully this week we will have found a home and looking forward to getting out of this hotel. We love each other but I think we need a little personal space. I'm proud of everyone so far. No fighting and people are trying hard to make the lack of space be positive. Landon keeps asking for a house so he can have his own room so I know he is ready to get out of here. He is sleeping on the fold out couch and Grayson is right next to him on a cot we put up every day.
I started a photography class last Thursday and now know what aperture, shutter speed and ISO is and how to change them on my camera. Now I have to do homework and send some pictures to my teacher. I'm looking forward to getting to know my camera and to take it out of auto mode!
Grayon and Landon have now been in school a full week. Landon has already tested to move up a class in math. He is homesick for his friends but is making new ones. Grayson is adjusting pretty well too. The 5th graders were working on a Wax Museum project before we got here so we were told Grayson didn't need to worry about it since the students have to have costumes, memorized 2 minute speech, and poster of the person they are representing in the Wax Museum. I guess AFN is coming to film them. Grayson, in his zeal to do what everyone else is doing, decided to be Michael Jackson and signed up then told us he needed a costume. I mentally banged my head against the hardest object I could think of and wished I had a WalMart or TJMaxx that could rescue me. We got creative and found him some skinny black jeans, white T-shirts, black jacket looking shirt, a fedora hat (God so intervened for this boy!) on sale for $6, and a white loofah glove. He is ecstatic and has been wearing the fedora hat for 2 days and doing that fast twirl/turn that Michael Jackson used to do. How do you not support a boy that just won't give up? I have to!! I will take pictures of his performance so you can see my little Jackson 5 boy (best years in my opinion!)
