Trying to find a home here has been more of a challenge than we had anticipated. Earlier this winter I had found some places on-line that looked so promising but where rented out by the time we got here. We looked at a place, a "rustico" or an older type farm house that had the older Italian charm with a fireplace in the kitchen, tile floors, the wooden beams on the ceilings, the owner had updated the windows to triple pane, fruit trees, 2 ponies, chickens, pigeons, a place for me to garden, all for 1800 Euro a month. He had to add a kitchen so that would add more to the rent. Today we found out this same place was listed by the Military Housing for 1300 Euro a month. I have a problem with the lack of integrity, so the "rustico" is off the list.
The apartment downtown I am trying desperately to see! Google Earth it at
Contrà Porta Lupia, 16, Vicenza VI, Italy
We saw two other places that were too small or the lay-out was awkward. We saw one today that may work. It doesn't have the charm of the Italian older places but it has the room we need, including a room for my office. I found a place downtown that I want to see but no one seems to be able to get us to see it. The landlady says she listed it with Housing but Housing says they don't have it. ARGGHHHH! I keep praying we'll find the right home for us but time is running out. Faith, Rachel, faith. I'll update as soon as we get one.
